We've been rained on a few times over the last week or so as we've run errands, but we really got soaked today, riding home from church. We could have waited a while for the rain to abate, but you could just tell that it wasn't going to let up any time soon. Unlike yesterday - we made it to the church to clean in the morning, and made it to a southern Tesco Extra in the afternoon, each time missing a deluge. The kids probably need some mud guards on their bikes though - puddles are meant to be splashed through!
Getting accustomed to the sunrise and setting is challenging. Our bedroom has windows that face east, and the sun starts shining through at the unholy hour of 4 AM - Google says it's 4:55 AM, but I tell you Google's actually wrong about that. The kids' are all on the top floor and have these amazing windows that open up through through roof. They also let light in, cranked to 110%. The kids do pretty well, but as the sun finally starts to set, you can tell it's been a long day here:
We're in the midst of planning our first adventure outside of Hungary, set to happen at the end of this month. Our excursion to Budapest was a success, largely due to the time the kids put in to planning everything. Collin and Abby crafted a PowerPoint about what we would do, and we were able to follow it most of the day:
The embedded presentation doesn't do Collin's mad PowerPoint abilities justice, but just know those transitions were amazing!

I've been working with the kids to try to replicate the statues they see around here - this might be my finest moment as a feauxtographer! |
Loved the update and photos! Do you think you could share a little about some of the pictures? Like was that the church building where Livy and Evan ( or was it Will) was walking on bricks near grass? Why were all those shoes by the water? The statue replicas were great too!
ReplyDeleteYou guys all look so great and happy!
The church building in that picture is our Branch building. It's a small two story building, but with all the accoutrements needed. Several classrooms, a family history center, a baptismal font...
DeleteThe shoes are a memorial to Jews who were ordered to the edge of the Danube in 1945, told to take their shoes off, and were then shot and tossed into the river. It's a pretty solemn site. You can learn more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoes_on_the_Danube_Bank
Thank you, Logan, for answering those questions. That is really sad about the shoe memorial and what it represented.
DeleteBy the way - that Power Point presentation was very well done, Collin & Abby!,

ReplyDelete1. Feauxtographer = Hilarious.
ReplyDelete2. "Helllooooooo nurse!" = Proof that those kids are yours.
3. The jealousi that I feel when I read this report and see those pictures is palpable. Like, I can taste it in my mouth.
Love it all! Thanks for keeping us updated!
